Afternoon all,

Think about the most famous buildings in the world. They weren’t meant to be the way they were. Sydney Opera House was meant to be shorter and wider. Wind would have been a nightmare for people inside the world’s tallest building - the Burj Khalifa – so they turned it round 120 degrees. And the original design for the Gherkin would have caused whirlwinds so they put in that now distinctive bulge in the middle.

He’s a finance manager, but he has taken time off to volunteer as a soldier in Ukraine. He told us he has paid for much of his equipment and travel himself. He believes that he’s in Ukraine not to support a rebellion against a legitimate government, but rather to defend Russia itself against sinister Western forces that want its total destruction. The idea that they are surrounded by steadily encroaching enemies has been around for at least 200 years.

Here’s a test of your emotion: Try and watch this special needs school’s nativity play without welling up. Putting on a play acted by children with severe needs is demanding.
