Facebook open-sources its machine learning magic

Facebook has open-sourced tools used with the Torch framework as part of its effort to become a leading force in AI. The open-sourced modules include GPU-optimized modules for large convolutional nets (ConvNets), as well as for networks with sparse activations that are commonly used in Natural Language Processing applications.

BREAKING NEWS: Supreme Court to decide gay marriage this term

The Supreme Court will review a ruling that upheld bans on same-sex unions in four states -- Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee -- and a decision is expected by late June.

Supreme Court takes up gay marriage
By Peter Sullivan
The Supreme Court announced on Friday that it will take up the issue of gay marriage, in what could lead to a landmark ruling.
The decision in the case, expected to come by June, could result in the justices declaring a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.
The Court is hearing an appeal from a ruling of the Sixth Circuit, which in November upheld bans on gay marriage in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
