It’s a high-stakes, partisan chess game and this afternoon a rift in the Republican party unexpectedly prevented the House from passing a three-week funding extension. One air marshal was allegedly rescheduled at least 20 times — taking him off assigned flights. Seven Killed in Rampage  Reasons are still unknown as to why a gunman went on a killing spree in a tiny Missouri community, leaving seven people dead in four nearby homes. After the first couple was shot, their 15-year-old daughter ran out a backdoor in her nightgown for help. But the alleged shooter kept going, before later killing himself. His 74-year-old mother, who’d been ill, was also found dead in her home but authorities believe she died of natural causes.     Learn More

Leonard Nimoy 1931-2015  For Trekkies, he was the voice of reason. Leonard Nimoy died today after a heart illness. The 83-year-old iconic “Star Trek” star with pointy ears said it was Spock’s humanity that drew him to the role.
