FDA issues warning after superbug outbreak at UCLA medical center

The Food and Drug Administration today issued a warning on widely used medical scopes that it said may facilitate spread of deadly bacteria. The warning comes as Los Angeles County health officials are investigating a deadly outbreak of a drug-resistant superbug at UCLA's Ronald Reagan Medical Center that has affected more than 180 patients. Five UCLA patients have already been infected with CRE bacteria from tainted endoscopes, officials said.
