Microsoft is looking to improve Web performance in Windows 10 by bringing in Mozilla's asm.js JavaScript subset, for inclusion in Microsoft's Chakra JavaScript engine. A post in the IEBlog Wednesday says asm.js has been moved to the "In Development" stage at status.modern.ie, noting that support for the technology has been a most-requested item in the Internet Explorer Platform Suggestion box. Samsung Electronics has acquired LoopPay, a U.S. mobile payments firm that could help it counter the Apple Pay mobile payments system. LoopPay produces small add-on devices for smartphones that can transmit credit card information in conjunction with a mobile app. When the devices are held within a few centimeters of a traditional magnetic strip reader, the information can be sent wirelessly to make a payment. Microsoft will double the per-PC price of support for enterprises still stuck with Windows XP systems when the anniversary of the aged OS's retirement rolls around in April, a licensing expert said Wednesday. The per-PC price for what Microsoft calls "custom support agreements" (CSAs) will jump to $400, the expert said after requesting anonymity.
