Capping a week of high drama that exposed divisions in both parties and raised the specter of another government shutdown, the Senate gave final approval late Saturday to a $1.1 — trillion spending bill that funds most government operations through next fall. After Democrats beat back an effort by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to strip funding for President Obama's new immigration actions, senators voted 56-40 to send the spending bill to Obama's desk.
