The Boy Scouts of America today settled a lawsuit brought by the family of a Santa Barbara County man who was molested by a volunteer Scout leader in 2007. The family of the victim, now 20, had sued the organization, accusing it of negligence in its handling of the matter. A judge in the case ruled that the plaintiffs could use the Scouts' secret "perversion files" as evidence in the trial, a ruling that opened the door for possible public release of the files, which outline years of molestation claims and incidents.
