BREAKING NEWS: Wall Street Pummeled in the Wake of Weak Earnings, Data

U.S. equity markets plummeted Tuesday, after a blizzard of weak economic data and fourth-quarter earnings results from blue-chip heavy hitters weighed on shares. At the close of trade, according to preliminary calculations, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 287 points, or 1.63% to 17391. The S&P 500 shed 27 points, or 1.3% to 2029, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 90 points, or 1.89% to 4681.
