Why The Social Sciences Matter

Today's society is on the brink of new possibilities, yet it also faces challenges and problems. Climate change is arguably the greatest of these issues, beset by the need for international co-operation on the grandest scale.

A new book, Why The Social Sciences Matter, examines a range of problems facing society today (including climate change) and considers possible solutions. It illuminates why a social scientific understanding gives us a grasp on a topic that would not be provided by those working in the fields of science, humanities or the arts alone; in other words, this book makes plain what is distinctive and invaluable about a social science perspective.

Keeping that social science perspective in mind, we invite scientists, social scientists and other great minds to debate possible practical solutions to the climate change challenge in our London venue.
