MongoDB had an exciting start to the new year. We renamed our upcoming release to MongoDB 3.0, were named Database of the Year by DB-Engines for the second consecutive year, and raised an additional $80 million in funding. Here's what else is happening in the MongoDB community:

Building MongoDB Applications with Binary Files Using GridFS Let’s explore this flexible feature in MongoDB for managing large files called GridFS. MongoDB manages data as documents, with a maximum size of 16MB. So what happens when your image, video, or other file exceeds 16MB? GridFS stores large binary files by breaking the files into smaller pieces called “chunks” and saving them in MongoDB.
