Donate $1 and Plant A Tree
American ForestsDONATE $1 and PLANT A TREE
2014 marked the beginning of our ongoing partnership withAmerican Forests.  For the 247th National Meeting & Exposition in Dallas, TX, 450 trees were planted as part of a regional reforestation and habitat restoration project in Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Reserve.  For the 248th National Meeting & Exposition in San Francisco, nearly 900 trees were planted to support the Dinkey Collaborative reforestation project located in the Sierra National Forest.

Now you also have the opportunity to further support this effort to help clean our air and water, provide much needed habitat to local wildlife and help remove carbon dioxide form our atmosphere by donating $1 through the ACS Denver registration system.  Even if you have already registered, you can access your record again to add this option.  Your $1 can make a huge difference.

Through our ACS Greener Meetings Program, we strive to reduce the environmental impacts of our meetings and expositions while enhancing the positive impacts on communities locally and globally. To accomplish this, we focus on three key initiatives – calculating and offsetting our carbon footprint, increasing attendee engagement, and collaborating with event partner to improve performance.

If you are staying at the Sheraton or Westin, you can help make your stay greener by taking advantage of the 'Make a Green Choice' program.  By opting to decline housekeeping service in your room, you will receive Starwood Preferred Guest points or a food and beverage voucher.  Help minimize your environmental footprint during your stay and get rewarded!

Join the ACS Greener Meeting Challenge and be a catalyst for positive change!
Program Highlights

Free workshops will be hosted by exhibitors on the exposition floor and in private rooms inside the Colorado Convention Center. These workshops will introduce new products and services, build skills with specific tools and techniques, and highlight innovative applications that may improve your productivity.

ChemDraw
chemdraw2.jpgCAS, the world's authority for chemical information, and PerkinElmer, the global leader on improving human and environmental health, collaborated to combine the power of two leading chemistry solutions: SciFinder ® and ChemDraw ®.   The ChemDraw platform is a digital drawing tool for chemists and biologists to create publication-ready, scientifically intelligent drawings for use in ELNs, databases and publications. SciFinder is a research discovery application that provides integrated access to the world's most comprehensive and authoritative source of references, substances and reactions in chemistry and related sciences, which are collected, organized and indexed by CAS scientists.

This collaboration between two industry innovators, first announced in December 2013, allows users to draw a structure using the ChemBioDraw Ultra 14 offering and then initiate a SciFinder session to search the structure. ChemBioDraw Ultra software automatically detects whether the structure is a single substance, or the reactant or product of a reaction. Researchers can now save considerable time when using both products.

Become an Exhibitor and reserve your booth now.  The ACS National Exposition is an integral part of each meeting and presents a unique opportunity to interact with over 10,000 scientific professionals. Exhibiting options as low as $750 are available.  Limited space available.

Senior Chemists Committee Plan Programs
marvin-caruthers-1-23.jpgMarvin Caruthers to Speak at Senior Chemists Breakfast
Marvin H. Caruthers, Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry at the University of Colorado, Boulder will be the keynote speaker during the Senior Chemists Breakfast on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 - 9:30 AM.    Prof. Caruthers' interests include nucleic acids chemistry and biochemistry.  Approximately 30 years ago, the methodologies that are used today for chemically synthesizing DNA were developed in his laboratory and incorporated into so-called gene machines for the purpose of synthesizing DNA used by biochemists, biologists, and molecular biologists for many research applications.  More recently his laboratory has developed methods for RNA chemical synthesis and for the synthesis of DNA/RNA on chips.  Prof. Caruthers will present Wearing Two Hats-Basic Research and Biotechnology.  Ticket price is $20.00 for the breakfast and can be purchased through meeting registration.
