Blackboard's recent acquisition of Schoolwires, which put the company firmly in the K-12 space, could be its most strategically significant buy since CEO Jay Bhatt took the helm, largely for one reason: the 1,700 school districts that came with the purchase.
According to Edsurge, the company is currently in talks with Pearson School Systems about purchasing its Powerschool product, a student information system which provides grade management for more than 13 million students in the U.S. and 65 other countries.
The state could establish a $5 million fund for individuals and firms that invest in startup companies.
Lyft is reportedly raising at least $250 million in a round that would value the San Francisco company at $2 billion.
