Afternoon all,

Imagine the embarrassment
at finding out you have told the same anecdote at a party to the same person multiple times. It was felt by the actress Prunella Scales - as her husband Timothy West recounts to their friend, the writer Joan Bakewell. Scales has dementia. Bakewell is trying to work out whether she would know if she was getting it too. She’s losing keys and forgetting names. Is this simple forgetfulness or the onset of dementia?

Ancient grains are trendy right now. If you don’t know what we’re on about, here’s a little bit of info to help you bluff your way through the Christmas small talk. By ancient we mean they are produced in the same way as they have been for thousands of years, unlike highly processed cereals (which are falling out of favour). Drop in the phrases "unrefined", "gluten-free" and "superfood" and your bluffing is done.
