Dramatic climaxes to hostage standoffs in France | |
Two hostage situations in France came to an end Friday, with three hostage takers reportedly killed.
French-Algerian brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi, the suspects in Wednesday's mass shooting at the headquarters of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, were killed hours after taking one man hostage inside a printing business on an industrial estate in Dammartin, less than 10 miles to the northeast of Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Separately, a gunman who had been holding at least five hostages in a kosher market in eastern Paris was killed when police stormed the store.
