SitePoint

On SitePoint today, we had a bunch of good stuff, in particular this article onbuilding SVG icons.
We also checked out Mozilla’s new version of Firefox, v35, which comes with plenty of interested web-dev-related features.
Then we took a look at Skeleton, a simple CSS boilerplate.

The Holo Men

News/business

The biggest tech news of the day/week/month(/year?) was Microsoft’s unveiling of its vision of the future of computing: holograms! [arstechnica] Here’s Wired with a hands-on [wired], and Polygon with a reason to be suspicious [polygon]. No sign of Tupac, unfortunately.
Microsoft also unveiled Windows 10, which will bring its assistant Cortana to the OS, and its new browser, code-named Project Spartan [blogs.windows]. Did you know Microsoft had something to do with Halo? Weird how little they mention it.
Meanwhile, in its quest to compete with literally every other company in the world,Google is getting into the wireless mobile services game [arstechnica].
Twitter unveiled a new “while you were away” feature, which updates you on stuff you may have missed while you were living your life [blog.twitter]. So now you never have to miss a meaningless argument between friends or enemies ever again!
WhatsApp now has a web app for Chrome and Android [theverge], but some argue it’s a poor effort [andregarzia].
Want the thrill of doing menial tasks for minimal benefit without leaving your house? Remote Internships [remoteinternships] is for you!

Nearest and Dearest

Off-topic

Nearlock [nearlock] uses your iPhone’s location to decide when to lock your Mac. There’s definitely no way this could go wrong.
Streamus [streamus] is a Chrome extension that takes all the pain out of listening to music via YouTube.
Speaking of augmented reality, here’s Adblock for the real world [jonathandub].
Finally, your future credit score could depend on who you know on social media [motherboard.vice], rather than whatever it depends on now.

That's all for today: from butts to holograms, it really ran the gamut. We'll be back again tomorrow with more (maybe not more butts, but we'll see).
