Afternoon all,

Say hello to the Eco Goats. They’re a herd much in demand for their ability to clear land of invasive species and other nuisance plants up and down America's East Coast. Originally bought to be butchered for meat, these animals had a lucky escape when their owners discovered they had hidden skills. Poison ivy, kudzu, multiflora rose and bittersweet - the goats eat them all. One of the reasons the animals are so effective is that plant seeds rarely survive the grinding motion of their mouths and their multi-chambered stomachs - this is not always the case with other techniques which leave seeds in the soil to spring back. And the goats appear to enjoy their work. According to their owner, you can "see the excitement in the way they eat".

In 2007 the Labour government set a target for 240,000 UK homes to be built a year by 2016. Today’s figures are nowhere near that - during the financial year 2013-14 it was more like 141,000. But in the decades after World War Two the nation built more than 300,000 new homes a year. How did it become so hard to build houses? The planning system, lack of available land, hamstrung housing associations and skills and material shortages have all been cited. Tom de Castella examines the claims.
Why can't the UK build 240,000 houses a year?

There's talk of watering down Special Brew. The notoriously strong 9% beer has an intriguing history - not least the fact it was first concocted in honour of Winston Churchill, to mark a visit to Copenhagen by the wartime prime minister in 1950. The brewers incorporated "cognac flavours among its tasting notes" in deference to Churchill’s fondness for brandy. The author Kingsley Amis was a fan. But it has more commonly been associated with problem drinkers. Will making it less potent alter the super-strength lager's reputation?
