Las Chavas: Poetry and Film from Honduras

Join Richard Blanco, the fifth inaugural poet of the United States; Brad Coley, director of the forthcoming documentary Las Chavasabout Our Little Roses, the only all-girl orphanage in Honduras; and Cheryl Chapman, executive director of Our Little Roses Foreign Mission Society, Miami, FL, for an evening of poetry and film.

Celebrate Willie Lin, the winner of this year’s Drinking Gourd Poetry Prize, a first-book award for poets of color. Judge Chris Abani presents the award and the evening includes a performance by composer, producer, and double bass player Tatsu Aoki.

January's Open Door Reading presents Columbia College’s Jenny Boully and her student Naomi Washer along with Oklahoma City University's Quraysh Ali Lansana and his student David R. Bublitz.
