Guards in riot gear have entered Delta and Oscar compounds at the Manus Island detention centre, attempting to end the week-long protest by force and taking away alleged ringleaders, with some reportedly sent to isolation.

Campbell Newman has made a pitch on law and order in the Queensland election, promising $22m for police intelligence gathering on criminals and would-be terrorists.

AirAsia crash investigators say they have not yet found any evidence of terrorism in the crash last month that killed all 162 people on board.
