Leonard Nimoy, 'Star Trek's' iconic alien Mr. Spock, dies at 83

Leonard Nimoy, the actor who became famous as the half-alien, half-human Mr. Spock of "Star Trek," died Friday at his home in Bel-Air. He was 83. As science officer of the starship Enterprise, Spock bested evil-doers in deep space with dizzying logic. On the TV series that ended its three-year run in 1969, Nimoy’s Spock became a cultural touchstone -- a living representative of the scientific method and a voice of pure reason in a time of social turmoil.
