Corn and soy are two of the leading Frankenfoods, or genetically modified crops, out there. This makes them available and affordable, but don't be fooled: It doesn't make them good for our health. As the saying goes, "We are what we eat" — but considering what we eat nowadays, that's not saying much.   So, what's so bad about genetically modified crops?

When basil is in season, buy as much as you can afford, make several batches, and freeze it.
