"It was him," defense attorney Judy Clarke said of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's role in the Boston Marathon bombings

In her opening statement, she told jurors that Tsarnaev admits to the bombings and subsequent shootouts with police. On the question of why he did it, however, the defense says Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was influenced by his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev.



The Justice Department has formally closed its investigation of Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson, declining to bring criminal charges for the killing of Michael Brown.

In a report released Wednesday, prosecutors said that "Wilson's actions do not constitute prosecutable violations" of federal civil rights law.



U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert was injured in an attack in Seoul, possibly by more than one person, according to U.S. government sources.

Police in Seoul say Lippert was cut with a razor blade. Lippert is being treated. A suspect has been detained.
