Clean Cities is looking for your input! The Vehicle Technologies Office’s Clean Cities program has two opportunities for you to provide feedback to help direct its long and short-term efforts on plug-in electric vehicles and other alternative fuel vehicles.

Clean Cities Invites Comments on Five-Year Strategy

On February 25, 2015, the U.S. Department of Energy hosted a public meeting to collect input on a new Clean Cities five-year strategic plan. Clean Cities works to bring alternative fuel vehicles, including plug-in electric vehicles, to the roads by partnering with nearly 100 local coalitions across the country as well as providing decision-makers with objective, data-driven tools and information. Through the meeting, the program solicited input from a broad range of stakeholders, including those in industry and government, on how Clean Cities can best support the adoption of natural gas, biofuels, propane, plug-in electric vehicles, fuel economy efforts, and idle reduction measures. To guide the discussion, experts from the DOE’s National Laboratories gave a series of presentations about each of Clean Cities’ technologies, based on a set of white papers.
Clean Cities encourages stakeholders to continue to give written comments through its Strategic Planning Meeting website until March 13. Reading the white paper specific to Plug-in and Hybrid Electric Vehicles, as well as the associated worksheet, beforehand can help further inform your comments.

Request for Information on Alternative Fuel and Advanced Vehicle Procurement Aggregating Initiative

Clean Cities recently released a Request for Information for its alternative fuel and advanced vehicle procurement aggregating initiative, which was first announced in a Notice of Intent last November. The program hopes to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to purchasing and procurement processes for alternative fuel and advanced vehicles as well as their subsystems. The RFI will gather information on how to create an effective purchasing and procurement process for coordinating and consolidating bulk vehicle orders. By allowing original equipment manufacturers and suppliers to increase production volumes, achieve economies of scale, and reduce incremental vehicle costs, the process should reduce prices of commercially-available alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles. Clean Cities would like your feedback about how this program can most effectively serve vehicle buyers as well as OEMs and suppliers. Read the full RFI and learn how to comment on the EERE Exchange website.
