R&D REPORT     No Power to Produce Drinking Water Here's a prototype system designed to remove salt from ocean water — without any power. The idea is to use the weight of the water to produce the high pressures needed for reverse osmosis. Unlike current desalination plants, which are costly and take years to build, this system could prove relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture using 3D printing.
