Striking Back at North Korea 
President Obama vowed to punish North Korea for the cyberattack against Sony Pictures and today he stepped it up, approving further sanctions against the regime. The latest go after North Korea’s primary intelligence agency, arms dealer, a corporation tied to defense development and ten individuals. The sanctions reflect a growing concern that potential attackers are becoming more sophisticated and more dangerous.

Arctic Blast 
Dangerous weather is wreaking havoc on travelers across the country. Two car pileups in New Hampshire left a tractor-trailer in flames and as many as 50 cars damaged. Icy conditions clogged roadways in Texas and sent a 60,000-pound fire engine into a ditch in Missouri. And it’s much colder than usual in the South, where even the Arizona desert got a rare dusting of snow.

Crash of AirAsia Flight 8501 
Captain Irianto’s wife is holding on to hope that her husband is still alive as search teams recovered 20 more bodies from the crash site of the AirAsia jet he was piloting. Among them, 22-year-old flight attendant Khairunnisa Fauzi, who relatives say was taking a short break from studying law to fly around the world.
