Apple shot its Oscars ad with the iPad Air 2

Apple just debuted its Oscars ad and unsurprisingly, it's centered around making movies. The commercial features several groups of high school students as they shoot different projects using the iPad as their camera, overlaid by an inspirational voiceover from Martin Scorsese, who extolls the virtues of hard work and experimentation as the keys to creative success. And while the piece has the kind of delicate score and evocative images that one would expect from an Apple ad, the spot was actually shot on the iPad Air 2 itself.

The US proposes the first-ever federal regulations for Arctic oil and gas drilling

The Interior Department's proposals, which would only apply to exploratory wells, stem from its 2014 discussions with Royal Dutch Shell to fortify the company's safety plan in the Arctic. That plan included new tugboats, an extra helicopter, and an additional oil rig capable of drilling a relief well if the first rig loses control. The administration's proposed regulations would require companies to have an additional rig at drilling sites and to construct and test an oil containment dome before drilling

Bang & Olufsen's latest wireless speaker is a gorgeous lunchbox

The Beolit 15, like its predecessor, looks rather like a lunchbox — if your lunchbox featured colorful mesh grilles and a leather strap. Bang & Olufsen has updated the device's internals since 2012, though. For one thing, the 15, while a few hairs lighter than the 12, sports a better battery that promises 24 hours of play time.

CastAR made a video imagining the future of augmented reality

The video imagines a world in which CastAR is used for urban planning, video games, and as a virtual desktop at home. Some of the concepts feel realistic, but there's no proof that all (like the first-person shooter) can actually be replicated.

Samsung teases Galaxy S6 with metal design and curved, anti-reflective display

Samsung wants to get everyone excited for its newest flagship, the Galaxy S6. The company has released two more teasers of the upcoming device, and they do give us a bit more information on what to expect. A dramatically-lit profile shot of the new phone posted on Instagram suggests that Samsung will indeed use a metal in the new phone. It also shows a unique tapered design that may go hand-in-hand with the heavily-rumored curved screen that's said to grace the phone.

This app concept is Tinder for binge-watchers

The idea behind Binger is to make matches based solely on what you and your potential paramour watch on Netflix. Its aim is to see what genres you like the most — say, horror with a mix of mid-90s sitcoms — and pair you off with someone, so the two of you can pretend to watch Friends while either making out on the couch or being completely awkward because who is this person?
