These are the first official photo samples from the Galaxy S6’s magnificent new camera
The annual Mobile World Congress trade show didn’t officially start until today, but there is no question that Samsung stole the show on Sunday. The company’s new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones represent a bold new era at Samsung, one where the company is finally willing to build a smartphone out of premium materials that better compliment its cutting-edge specs. Among the improvements in Samsung’s new flagship phones is an impressive new camera that could be the best smartphone camera in the world when it launches. And now, we have our first official samples of photos captured with the Galaxy S6’s camera.

Apple’s secret plan to maximize Apple Watch battery life
The New York Times is reporting that Apple has a previously undisclosed plan to maximize battery life on the Apple Watch as much as possible. According to the report, Apple’s watch team “developed a yet-to-be-announced feature called Power Reserve.” As the name implies, the Apple Watch in Power Reserve mode will run on low energy and will only display the time. Which is to say, all of the device’s other functions such as notifications and activity monitoring will presumably go into a sleep mode in an effort to conserve juice.

Now we know the real reason Google is becoming a wireless carrier
Google really is going to become a wireless carrier, although you shouldn’t expect it to have a major impact on the markets where it’s launched as Google Fiber has. During a talk at Mobile World Congress this week, Android and Chrome boss Sundar Pichai explained that Google is really going to become a mobile virtual network operation (MVNO) but added that for the time being it doesn’t have plans to build its own nationwide network capable of rivaling carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile.

Video: Watch a replay of the entire Galaxy S6 unveiling right here
Despite all the leaks and rumors leading up to Sunday’s unveiling of the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, there didn’t seem to be quite as much hype as there has been in previous years. Perhaps the taste of letdown from 2014’s Galaxy S5 was still fresh in gadget fans’ mouths, but people just didn’t seem as interested as they were in the past. Once people got an official look at Samsung’s next-generation flagship phones, however, all that changed.

Sony on Monday at MWC 2015 unveiled the Xperia Z4 Tablet, its slickest Android tablet yet, and quite possibly one of the most interesting Android tablets supposed to hit stores soon. The device isn’t just the slimmest tablet in the world, it’s also a powerful beast, ready to offer impressive performance.

Samsung didn’t convince me I need the Galaxy S6 edge, but I’m totally smitten with the curve
If you liked any of the recent mid-range metal Galaxy phones that Samsung released, you’re totally going to love the brand new Galaxy S6 flagships. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge pack amazing hardware, and come with a brand new kind of design, one that shows Samsung is actually capable of creating well-built devices for a change, even if that means still having to cheat off Apple’s iPhone. Of them, the Galaxy S6 edge is by far the better version, just as some carrier execs told reporters before the show, even though Samsung has not really explained why we need a dual-edge curved display in a smartphone.
