The Institute for Supply Management’s gauge of manufacturing activity fell to 52.9 in February, from 53.5 the month prior. The reading came in below Wall Street expectations for a shallower fall to 53.2, and is the lowest level since January 2014. Readings above 50 point to expansion, while those below indicate contraction.
