Rethinking Your Relationship With Food

Mealtimes can be among the most relaxing, enjoyable parts of your day, but few of us treat food with the kind of reverence it deserves. If you're grabbing fast food or prepackaged microwave dinners on the go, it's time to make a change. Here's what one Sonoma Diet member has to say about her new outlook on food:
"Isn't it ironic? We've gained weight because we 'eat too much,' but most of us don't know how to really savor a great meal, much less cook one. Most of the time, the food is gone before we realize what happened. I think one of the best things about this program is that it is teaching us to make friends with food — really delicious-tasting food — and to enjoy the whole process.
I'm determined to become a gourmet healthy cook. For now, I cook the more adventurous things on the weekends and then use the leftovers for a couple of meals on the weekdays. If I'm not doing anything special with the protein portion, I jazz up the vegetables. Plain green beans will never appear on my plate again!" —Sparkle

Connie's Tip of the Day

A Better Solution for Beans

Before you boil all the flavor and nutrition out of those green beans, try roasting them instead. Use a little bit of olive oil and some garlic for flavor, and you'll never go back to boiled beans again!
