That’s wonderful. There are a lot of great public lands on the East Coast to check out. Here are some options to check out:
- Shenanodoah National Park in Virginia is only 75 miles from Washington, D.C. and offers cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas and quiet wooded hollows.
- The Everglades National Park in Florida protects an unparalleled landscape that provides important habitat for rare and endangered species — like the manatee and American crocodile. The park is known for its unique mangrove forests.
- Consider stopping at one of the more that 560 national wildlife refuges in the U.S. For example, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia is stunning!
