    This morning the White House released its fiscal 2016 budget proposal. The plan now heads to Congress for assembly into congressional budget blueprints and annual spending bills. Many of the line items in the budget will be easily added to congressional measures. However, congressional Republicans will likely omit the more contentious items and suggest spending restrictions. Full story
  • This Week: Budget Plan and Health Law Repeal Vote

    The White House today will deliver to Congress the administration's annual budget proposal. The bulk of the budget request is pegged toward entitlement and safety net programs, such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The budget plan will also call for exceeding caps on discretionary spending, which is enforced by a sequester mechanism that automatically cuts program spending. The Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday will the first congressional panel to quiz Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell on the HHS budget. Full story
