By 2050, 70 percent of the world's population will live in urban areas and it is no wonder that those working on best-in-class programs and policies to support entrepreneurs are focusing their attention on cities. Whether through engagement of mayors or metropolitan-level data analysis, policymakers are bullish on local government and communities.

The President's FY 2016 Budget

President Obama's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2016--calling for $3.99 trillion in spending while bringing in $3.53 trillion in revenue--is the center of attention on Capitol Hill this week. While it isn't expected to go very far in the Republican controlled Congress, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and other administration officials will appear before a number of committee hearings to run through the details. When the Kauffman Foundation presents its latest State of Entrepreneurship Address at the National Press Club next week, the focus will be on two demographic trends that are shaping the future of entrepreneurship in America. While previous Kauffman studies have highlighted the entrepreneurial prowess of Baby Boomers, the picture isn't quite as bright for Millennials who must overcome "the twin menaces of student debt and the Great Recession" to pursue an entrepreneurial path.
