Feb. 20, 2015                                                                                                               TP15-04 Upcoming 2015 Product Calendar — The Census Bureau has posted anticipated release dates for each regular and recurring statistical product expected to be released in 2015. The products are listed in the Census Bureau’s online product calendar, which will be updated as needed throughout the year. FY2016 Budget Conference Call — Census Bureau Director John Thompson will conduct a conference call with the media to talk about the fiscal year 2016 budget and answer questions. (Scheduled for March 12.) Demographic 2014 Housing Vacancy Survey — These statistics provide vacancy rates, homeownership rates and characteristics of units available for occupancy for the U.S., regions, states and the 75 largest metropolitan statistical areas. Data for all geographies are available both quarterly and annually. Homeownership rates are also tabulated by age of householder for the U.S. and regions and by race/ethnicity of householder and by family status for the U.S. In addition, estimates of the total housing inventory and percent distributions of vacant for-rent and for-sale-only units are available for the U.S. and regions. (Tentatively scheduled for release Feb. 23.) Projections of the Size and Composition of the U.S. Population: 2014 to 2060 — This report provides analysis of the projections of the U.S. resident population released in December 2014 as a set of detailed tables. The projections were provided by age, sex, race, Hispanic origin and nativity annually over this time period. These are the second series of projections to be published based on the 2010 Census (updating projections released in 2012). (Tentatively scheduled for release March 3.) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Receipt for Households: 2000-2013 —This American Community Survey brief presents data on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) receipt at the national and state levels based on statistics from the 2013 American Community Survey. In addition, this report discusses the current SNAP receipt rates for metropolitan statistical areas with large populations. (Tentatively schedule for release in February or March).  Remarriage in the United States: 2008-2012 — The first report to use the American Community Survey five-year statistics to look at remarriage in the United States will focus on geographic variation as well as the socio-economic characteristics of remarried adults in the U.S. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Population Trends in Incorporated Places: 2000 to 2013 — This report draws from data on more than 19,000 cities across the U.S., including trends in population growth and loss, population density, geographic distribution, annexation and new incorporations. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Small Area Health Insurance Estimates: 2013 — The estimates show the number of people with and without health insurance coverage for all states and each of the nation's roughly 3,140 counties. The statistics are provided by selected age groups, sex, race and Hispanic origin (state only), and at income-to-poverty levels that reflect the federal poverty thresholds for state and federal assistance programs. The Small Area Health Insurance Estimates program is the only source of single-year health insurance estimates for every county in the U.S. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Geographic Mobility: 2014 — A collection of national- and regional-level tables from the Annual Social and Economic Supplement of the Current Population Survey. The tables describe the movement of people in the United States, including type of move, why they moved, distance moved and characteristics of those who moved one year earlier. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Desire to Move and Residential Mobility: 2010-2011 — This report looks at the characteristics of householders who desired to move in 2010 and their subsequent mobility pattern from 2010 to 2011 using data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Young Adult Migration: 2007-2009 and 2010-2012 — This report looks at the demographic and socio-economic status of young adult migrants, ages 18 to 34, during the recession and postrecession periods. The report uses 2007-2009 and 2010-2012 American Community Survey statistics. (Tentatively scheduled for release in March.) Economic 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Transportation and Warehousing — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files that include data for industries such as air, rail, and water transportation and warehousing and storage. The files provide data on the number of establishments, receipts or revenue, payroll, number of employees and other data items by industry. This release is the first for the transportation and warehousing sector and covers Colorado and geographic areas therein only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them for this sector will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files that include data for office administrative services, investigation and security services and waste collection, treatment and disposal. The files provide data on the number of establishments, receipts or revenue, payroll, number of employees and other data items by industry. This release is the first for the administrative, support, waste management, and remediation servicessector and covers Colorado and geographic areas therein only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them for this sector will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Real Estate and Rental and Leasing — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files that include data for real estate, rental and leasing services, and lessors of nonfinancial intangible assets (except copyrighted works). The files provide data on the number of establishments, receipts or revenue, payroll, number of employees and other data items by industry. This release covers Montana, Maine and Alaska and geographic entities within them only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them for this sector will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Retail Trade — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files that include data for furniture and home furnishings stores, food and beverage stores, and non-store retailers. The files provide statistics on the number of establishments, sales, payroll, number of paid employees and other data items by industry. This release is the first for the retail trade sector and covers Colorado and Hawaii and geographic entities within them only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them for this sector will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Wholesale Trade — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files with statistics for all industries in the wholesale trade sector down to the six-digit NAICS level. These include statistics for merchant wholesalers of durable and nondurable goods and wholesale electronic markets, agents and brokers. The files provide statistics on the number of establishments, receipts or revenue, payroll, number of employees and other data items by industry. This release is the first for the wholesale trade sector and covers Colorado and geographic areas therein only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them for this sector will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census Industry Series:  Mining, Quarrying and Oil and Gas Extraction —These are more in a series of national-level data files on the mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction sector of the U.S. economy. It will include new data on several industries, including natural gas liquid extraction, drilling oil and gas wells, and support activities for metal mining. The files provide number of establishments, employees and annual payroll. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2012 Economic Census of Island Areas:  Puerto Rico Manufacturing — The manufacturing sector includes establishments engaged in food, apparel, paper, primary metal and machinery manufacturing. Data are presented for Puerto Rico and its combined statistical areas, metropolitan statistical areas and municipals. The report also includes data on the number of establishments, payroll, employment, value of business done and other data items by industry. <http://www.census.gov/econ/islandareas/>.(Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2013 Annual Wholesale Trade Survey — The Annual Wholesale Trade Survey Report provides detailed industry measures of sales inventories, operational expenses and purchases for wholesale trade activities. Companies provide data on dollar value of annual sales, end-of-year inventories and methods of inventory valuation, purchases and/or operating expenses. Companies include merchant wholesalers that take title of the goods they sell, jobbers, industrial distributors, exporters, and importers. Also included are non-merchant wholesalers such as manufacturer sales branches and offices; agents, merchandise or commodity brokers, and commission merchants. <http://www.census.gov/wholesale/>. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2013 Annual Survey of Manufactures — The Annual Survey of Manufactures provides sample estimates of statistics for all manufacturing establishments with one or more paid employees. Provides statistics on employment, payroll, supplemental labor costs, cost of materials consumed, operating expenses, value of shipments, value added by manufacturing, detailed capital expenditures, fuels and electric energy used, and inventories. The three data sets issued from the survey are statistics for industry groups and industries, value of product shipments and geographic area statistics. (Scheduled for release Feb. 27.) 2013 Annual Retail Trade Survey — The Annual Retail Trade Survey produces national estimates of total annual sales, e-commerce sales, end-of-year inventories, inventory-to-sales ratios, purchases, total operating expenses, inventories held outside the United States, gross margins, and end-of-year accounts receivable for retail businesses and annual sales, total operating expenses and e-commerce sales for accommodation and food service firms located in the United States.<http://www.census.gov/retail/index.html#arts>. (Scheduled for release March 6.) 2012 Information & Communication Technology Survey — The Information and Communication Technology Survey provides data on both noncapitalized and capitalized spending for information and communication technology equipment and computer software by U.S. nonfarm businesses with employees. It covers all domestic, private and nonfarm businesses, including agricultural nonfarm (NAICS subsectors 113, 114 and 115) businesses.  <http://www.census.gov/econ/ict/index.html>.(Scheduled for release March 11.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Accommodation and Food Services — This is a series of national-, state-, county-, place- and metro area-level data files that include data for traveler accommodation, rooming and boarding houses, full-service restaurants and drinking places. The files provide data on the number of establishments, receipts or revenue, payroll, number of employees and other data items by industry. This release covers Alaska and Maine and geographic entities within them only. Statistics for the other states and geographic entities within them, for this sector, will be released on a flow basis over the coming months. (Scheduled for release March 17.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series: Construction — This is a series of data files that include statistics  for industrial building construction; highway, street, and bridge construction; and roofing contractors. The files provide statistics on the number of establishments, sales, payroll, number of paid employees and other data items by industry. This will provide statistics for all states and the District of Columbia. (Scheduled for release in March.) 2012 Economic Census Geographic Area Series — Beginning in January and continuing on a flow basis through September 2015, this series provides detailed industry statistics by geographic area for establishments of firms with paid employees. Data are shown on the 2012 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) basis. These data supersede the data shown in the Industry Series and may be superseded by data shown in later publication series for selected sectors. See <http://www.census.gov/econ/census/schedule/> for more information.   2012 Economic Census Industry Series — Continuing on a flow basis through February 2015, this series contains national-level statistics from the twice-a-decade economic census for specific industries on the number of employees and establishments, payroll and total revenues. It also includes detailed statistics on the product lines sold or services provided by businesses. Facts for Features Women’s History Month — In commemoration of this annual observance highlighting and celebrating the varied and historic accomplishments of women, this edition provides statistical information on topics such as earnings, education, business ownership, voting, occupations, military service and marriage. (Scheduled for release Feb. 23.) Earth Day: April 22 — Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for our planet’s natural environment. The day came from reaction to a massive oil spill in waters near Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1969. In honor of Earth Day — and Earth Week (April 16-22) — this edition of Profile America Facts for Features includes examples of Census Bureau statistics pertaining to energy and the environment. (Scheduled for release Feb. 26.) Training Opportunities Census Bureau Offers Training Opportunities — Webinars are available to help the public access and use Census Bureau statistics. These free sessions, lasting 60 to 90 minutes, show how to use census databases and mapping tools and how to find demographic and economic statistics at a local or national level. They also provide quick links for answers to frequently asked questions about accessing statistics. Recently Released (Released since Feb. 6, 2015) Note to Correspondents: 2015 Census Test Begins Next Week in Savannah Area — Feb 19 —The U.S. Census Bureau will begin the 2015 Census Test in the Savannah, Ga., area on Feb. 23 by allowing residents to register for the upcoming test using its “Notify Me” website. Residents across 20 counties in Georgia and South Carolina will have the opportunity to specify how they would like to be notified to participate in the count beginning on March 23. The files provide statistics on the number of establishments, sales, annual payroll and other data items for these industries.
