The Open Door series presents work from Chicago's new and emerging poets and highlights the area's outstanding writing programs. In February, School of the Art Institute's Rosellen Brown and her student Judith Valente read with Columbia College's Joshua Young and his student Harlee Logan Kelly.
Greil Marcus, Jon Langford, Sally Timms and present The History of Rock 'n' Roll in 10 Songs, an evening of reading, performance, and conversation. The event will be loosely based around Greil's new book release of the same title - Greil will be reading from que book and Jon and Sally will present musical Their own interpretations of some of the greatest songs in rock 'n' roll history.
Michael J. Miles, one of America's greatest clawhammer banjo players, is an avid fan of poetry in performance. Join us for a joyful session of live banjo, participatory poems, rhyming games, and some do-it-yourself troubadouring. This special performance will include poems and songs by Dr. Seuss, Ogden Nash, Shel Silverstein, Bob Dylan, and others. On Thursday, Miles will be performing his acclaimed Also one-man show, From Senegal to Seeger .
