MESSAGE FROM THE FUTURE PRESIDENT |
I am honored to have been elected the 2016 president of the American Chemical Society. In 2015, as I fulfill my duties asACS President-Elect, I think we have an opportunity to help ACS members with international scientific interests feel more connected to the Society and for those living abroad, to one another in their home countries.
My background and experience as a chemist have given me a global perspective. From my recent work as a Fulbright Scholar to serving on the ACSInternational Activities Committee, I understand the practice of chemistry can flourish through maintaining transnational perspectives and networks.
As our Charter states, the ACS is committed to " advanc[ing] the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people." I plan to implement this duty to the best of my abilities.
Thank you again for your support, and I look forward to working for the Society in this capacity.
Dr. Donna Nelson
2016 ACS President
