Join us for a night of film, music, performance and conversation as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane's album A Love Supremetogether with a screening of Through A Lens Darkly. Join filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris in conversation with Rev. Dereca Blackmon, curator Ashara Ekundayo and writer Marvin K. White. Live jazz from the Angela Wellman Quartet and performance by Sonya Renee Taylor.

The first documentary to explore the role of photography in shaping the identity, aspirations, and social emergence of African Americans from slavery to the present, Through a Lens Darkly probes the recesses of American history through images that have been suppressed, forgotten, and lost. This powerful film shows how Black photographers helped their communities reclaim self-worth and humanity.
