Walt Disney Co. today named Thomas O. Staggs as its chief operating officer, making him the No. 2 executive at the world’s largest entertainment company. The move clarifies the succession planning at the Burbank-based media giant. Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger is staying in the top job at least through June 2018, with Staggs, until now the company’s parks chief, the top internal candidate to possibly succeed him.
