The head of the Los Angeles school district’s highly touted food services program has been placed on leave after an internal draft audit found alleged conflicts of interest and mismanagement of the massive program. Under David Binkle, the district’s food program has won nationwide acclaim, including from First Lady Michelle Obama, for revamping high-fat school meals into more healthful alternatives.
