New research reveals that, in low-income zip codes, IRS-reported incomes and earnings reported on mortgages in fact differed wildly from 2002 to 2005. The researchers place the blame for falsified earnings listed on mortgage applications -- which the researchers call "buyer income overstatement" -- on brokers producing mortgages intended to be sold as securities.

Controlling the time and sequence of cancer therapies may hold the key to unlocking better outcomes for patients with aggressive cancers, according to research. In a collaborative effort between cancer biologists and applied mathematicians, researchers are now showing that improved cancer therapy can be achieved by targeting drug-resistant cancer cells in a new way.

The more a Facebook user gets involved in alcohol-related pages or posts -- whether it's a like, share or comment -- the more likely that person is to consider drinking alcohol. As part of a recent study, more than 400 participants were asked their feelings after they encountered and responded to alcohol-related Facebook items. The results: The more engagement, the greater their chances are of wanting to drink.

The trend of wearable devices (smart accessories) like bracelets, sunglasses and watches, is rarely focused on the elderly population. However, one researchers wants these devices to be used by older adults benefiting them with the first smart watch that remotely monitors real-time health status.
