EPA Announces Fiscal Year 2016 Budget Proposal

EPA Flag
The President's Fiscal Year 2016 budget request for EPA demonstrates the Administration's commitment to protecting human health and the environment. Under the proposed budget, investments in public health and environmental protection pay off. Since EPA was founded in 1970, we have seen over and over that a safe environment and a strong economy go hand in hand. In the last 45 years, EPA has cut air pollution by 70 percent and cleaned up half our nation’s polluted waterways. Meanwhile, the U.S. economy has tripled. A portion of the proposed funding will be set aside for states and tribal communities to address issues related to climate change, safe drinking water enhancements and clean air standards.

Climate Justice: A Fight for Equal Opportunity

Environmental Justice
February is Black History Month, a time to reflect on past injustices and refocus efforts on the injustices that still exist today. Often, low-income neighborhoods of color are the ones that are disproportionately impacted by pollution and more vulnerable to floods, storms and fires exacerbated by climate change. Without access to clean air, clean water, or healthy land on which to live, these communities can be barred from economic opportunity.
