RoboRave Rally tests Northern New Mexico students’ critical thinking, teamwork skills
Event sparks, nurtures interest in science and technology
LOS ALAMOS, N.M., March 5, 2015—Eighty-four teams of students from Northern New Mexico area schools test their critical thinking and teamwork skills building autonomous robots at RoboRave Rally Northern New Mexico on Saturday, March 7 at Northern New Mexico University in Española.
"Introducing students at an early age to science, math, technology and engineering, the so-called STEM fields, is important for students and for the Lab," said Janelle Vigil-Maestas of Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Community Programs Office.
Students from grades 3 and above work in two-to-four person teams. Teams from schools in Rio Arriba, Taos, Los Alamos, Santa Fe and Sandoval counties are scheduled to participate. These teams also will participate in the RoboRave International competition April 30-May 2 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
