The Problem with Pesticides
As beautiful and wonderful as nature is, sometimes it can be inconvenient. It's true. After all, who wants mice or roaches in the kitchen and weeds growing in their beloved rose patch? However, although there are simple solutions for pest control — such as pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides — we never really think about how those chemicals affect us, our loved ones, and our pets.   Learn how to live a pest-free AND toxin-free life!

Featured Recipe: Chopped Antipasto Salad
Nothing beats a great salad, and this one's no exception! The dark green leafy goodness of wild arugula, celery leaves, and escarole brings a burst of antioxidants, while grilled herb-covered chicken and plenty of Italian additions add fresh, amazing flavor. Great for lunch or dinner, this is one recipe that's definitely worth staying home for!   Get the recipe!

Food for Thought
I don't like to waste food or time. For instance, when basil is in season, I'll make a lot of pesto to toss in some whole wheat pasta, season a soup, or spread on chicken when I want something quick and easy. I do the same thing when tomatoes are ripe. After roasting them, I preserve them in olive oil to use in a whole bunch of different recipes! When I cook a chicken with heads of garlic, I'll bake extra garlic to sauté with vegetables or pasta the next day and save the leftover chicken bones to make an excellent soup stock. As the saying goes: waste not, want not.
