BREAKING NEWS: American Express Books Fourth-Quarter Beat

American Express unveiled fourth-quarter earnings per share of $1.39 on revenues net of interest expense of $9.1 billion, topping Wall Street expectations for profits per share of $1.38 on revenues of $8.53 billion. Shares were relatively flat in after-hours action.
