Fish is a staple on the South Beach Diet for many reasons. It is an excellent source of lean protein and many are rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and other nutrients. Fish can be prepared quickly and easily but can you tell if the fish you buy is fresh?
The South Beach Diet doesn't require you to weigh, measure, or count what you eat. But while we don't count calories, calories obviously do count. If you're making the right food choices, and eating three meals a day and at least two snacks, portion control takes care of itself.
