There are a bunch of different muscle groups in the "abs" category. You have external and internal obliques, rectus abdominis, transverse abs, to name a few. You should work different muscles in the abs every time you work out. For example, work your rectus abdominis on Monday, your transverse abs on Tuesday, your obliques on Wednesday, and so on.
