New Stroke Treatment Reduces Post-Stroke Disability and Saves Lives
Canadian researchers shared promising trial results from a recent treatment for stroke called endovascular thrombectomy (ET). The innovative retrieval procedure can reduce stroke-related disabilities and halve the death rate from ischemic strokes with the use of stents made of metal mesh. Read More.

Part of Brain Larger in Individuals with Longevity Gene Variant
Researchers from UCSF have found that individuals with the KL-VS gene variant, who produce more of the protein klotho, have a longer lifespan, larger right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and improved performance on planning and decision-making tests. Read More.
Ultrasound Treatment for Alzheimer's Proves Effective in Mice
Australian researchers have found that ultrasound waves can be used to treat symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in mice. The study found that targeting ultrasound waves at the brains of the mice resulted in a reduction in brain area affected by amyloid-beta plaque and an increase in cognitive performance. Read More.
